Stomping Grounds is a community clubhouse for parents, kids, and all the wonderful people that make up their village. FAQs

Are you re-opening Railgarten?

Not exactly. Railgarten was beloved by many, us included. It was a great place to let your kids run around, have a bite and a drink, and relax with friends, and we hope to help families make similar memories in the future. Unlike Railgarten, Stomping Grounds will be focused specifically on creating a space for kids and for everyone with a kid in their lives.

do I have to be with a kid to come?

Yes, but that doesn’t mean you have to have a child living in your household. All grandparents, babysitters, cousins, cool aunts, fun uncles, and kid-adjacent adults are welcome. Not only are you welcome, but membership for a household (with one price for any number of kids) also includes every single adult in those kids lives.

Stomping Grounds is for everyone who is a part of the village that is required to raise our little ones.

how will the space change?

Safety is our number one priority as we work to renovate. A whole new safety plan, improved fencing, all new play spaces, and easy parking are our immediate goals. Sadly, that means no more nails to hammer into stumps, and no more volleyball court sand. All the shipping containers are out, and everything is getting a glow up.

How will membership work?

A membership to Stomping Grounds will allow free access any time we’re open, members-only hours, and access to special events (and more!). We believe that memberships should be family-centric rather than a way to drive extra revenue: there's only one price for any number of kids in a household, and every single adult in those kids' lives is included, too.

will parking be improved?

Yes! With a bit of a redesign, we’ll be able to add quite a few new spaces in the back entering and exiting down the side street (Blythe) to the east.

What other amenities are in the works?

As you may have seen, Art Project is joining us! There will also be self-serve taps for coffee, kombucha, tea, and soda, private party rooms, and much more. Plus, Wild Beet is here and already open: they'll be matching our hours as well!

What hours will you be open?

I like to say: we'll be open from breakfast to bedtime.

Our hours will be flexible and designed around a family's needs. One of the things that has motivated us from the beginning is that nothing is open for parents until 9am, and most activities for kids close by 5pm. No more! We’ll be built around parents' schedules (and ours, we’re all parents, too!). We'll also be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day of the week.

How will the self-service taps work, especially with kids?

The self-service tap walls will be RFID-based with a wristband, allowing adults to walk up, swipe, and pour a drink. The wristband will have an ID on file, and the wall will also be attended (right behind the check-in desk). The system will be set to cap out alcoholic drink servings at a level suited for a family play business. It's not just for beer and wine either: we'll have near beer, cold brew, kombucha, craft soda, and more!

Being a parent shouldn’t be so hard, and we want to be part of the solution. Join us as we work toward making Memphis the best place in the world to raise a family.
